Preschoolers will develop a love for art and important skills at The Kids & I workshops at Brickton Art Center, 306 Busse Hwy., Park Ridge. Classes are geared for ages 2-5, with a parent.
“The instructor works with them to teach them basic mediums,” said Executive Director Theresa Blackburn. “They keep it at their level. They get them ready to go to school, too.”
The classes offer a variety of benefits for youngsters. “They’re perfecting their fine motor skills,” Blackburn said. “They’re also learning color and shape forms. Every week there’s a different project so kids get exposed to different mediums.”
Upcoming four-week sessions are 9:30 a.m.-10:20 a.m. beginning the week of Jan. 5 with workshops on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays. There’s also a session 10-10:50 a.m. Thursdays, Jan. 8-29, and The Kids and I: Clay Edition, 9:30-10:20 a.m. Saturdays, Jan. 10-28. Cost is $50; $42.50 for members; Clay Edition is $55 and $47.
