A Norridge home is a mere shell of itself following an early morning fire.
Norwood Park firefighters responded around 5 a.m. Jan. 7 to a call at 7911 Gunnison St.
When firefighters arrived, the entire first floor was ablaze, according to Commander David Blondell.
With the help of two Norridge police officers, firefighters were able to rescue the eight occupants of the home who were trapped on the second floor, he said.
Hampering efforts to fight the fire were a series of water main breaks, Blondell added.
“The house may have to come down for safety reasons, but everyone made it out safely,” he said. “That’s the most important thing.”
